Shock Absorber Replacement

Removal Procedure





1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Disconnect the electrical connector and air line if equipped with Real Time Damping (RTD).
3. Support the rear axle.
4. Disconnect the RTD sensor (if equipped). Refer to Rear Position Sensor Replacement - Electronic Suspension in Real Time Damping (RTD).





5. Remove the upper shock absorber nut and the bolt.
6. Remove the lower shock absorber nut and the bolt.
7. Remove the shock absorber.


Installation Procedure





1. Install the shock absorber.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the upper shock absorber nut and bolt.
3. Install the lower shock absorber nut and bolt.
- Tighten the nuts to 95 Nm (70 ft. lbs.).





4. Connect the electrical connector and air line if equipped with RTD.
5. Connect the RTD sensor (if equipped). Refer to Rear Position Sensor Replacement - Electronic Suspension - Left (15 Series) or Rear Position Sensor Replacement - Electronic Suspension - Left 425 Series) or Rear Position Sensor Replacement - Electronic Suspension - Right (25 Series) in Real Time Damping (RTD).
6. Remove the support from the rear axle.
7. Remove the safety stands.
8. Lower the vehicle.
